Knee Pain Treatment

The knee is a complex joint that bears a significant amount of the body's weight. Knee pain can arise from sudden sports injuries, gradual wear and tear (osteoarthritis), or biomechanical imbalances. Our goal is to reduce your pain, improve joint mechanics, and restore your mobility.

What are the common symptoms?

• Swelling and stiffness in or around the knee\n• Redness and warmth to the touch\n• Weakness or instability (the knee "giving out")\n• Popping or crunching noises when moving\n• Inability to fully straighten the knee

How do we treat this condition?

Treatment depends on the exact cause but generally includes modalities to reduce inflammation (like ice and ultrasound), manual therapy to improve joint tracking, and a highly specific strengthening program targeting the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes to properly support the knee joint.

When should you see a physiotherapist?

See a physiotherapist if you cannot bear weight on your knee, have marked knee swelling, are unable to fully extend or flex your knee, or if you feel your knee is unstable.
